my family has a true love hate relationship with the sun! my grandmother always uses noxema cold cream on us when we burn. it takes the heat out of the burn, and makes it feel just so much better. BUT it makes you peel. i did not believe this for the longest time. until my exwife deminstraighted to me with half of my back in noxema, and half aloe vera based "after burn". sure enough the noxema side peeled in the first week, and the after burn side was nicely tanned(yes i looked ridiculus for the rest of the summer as i tried to balance my tan out) but from that time till to this very day, i tell anyone that asks about sunburn, i tell them about "solarcane aloe vera after the burn" i think that is the right one. it not only sucks the heat out of the burn, but it also keeps moisture in the skin so that you do not peel(unless it is just a really bad burn). i really recommend this stuff it has worked for everyone that i have told about it. good luck!

You have to stop the skin from burning just like a grease burn any sort of burn. Fill your tub with cool water not cold, it just needs to be cooler than your skin to take the heat out of your skin and put a cup of apple cider vinegar in the water. Stay in it till the water isn't cooler than you. Do this a couple times a day. The more you do it the better it will get sooner. And the vinegar is very good for your whole body and will soften your skin so you will be doing more than helping your sunbun. Oh, don't towel dry if you can just air dry, you don't want to rub the burn.

Get an aloe vera spray if you can so you don't have to rub it in and irritate the burn. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated so your body can deal with it. And I'm sure you don't want to hear it right now but learn from the experience and apply sunscreen in the future. Noone wants to look like a piece of leather later in life. Keep an eye on any new freckles or moles that come up as a result of this sunburn too. I'm so sorry. I feel your pain =)
And take some paracetemol or ibuprofen.

Take a cool (not cold, and definitely not hot!) shower, and use something soft to gently scrub off some of the dead skin. (Be very delicate if it hurts.) Then, ask someone to help you apply a generous amount of aloe vera to the burned area. Don't rub it in, just let it sit on the skin and sink in. Allow it to dry fully before putting clothes on overtop, if they stick, it will hurt more. Try to find aloe vera with Lidocaine, it will help ease the pain. Do this once or twice a day until the burn is gone.
And next time, wear sunblock! ;)

You can buy some real aloe in your grocery store's produce department and apply the sap to your burned skin, or just go in the health and beauty aisle and find some sun burn relief cream or lotion that contains aloe. It's really nice when you keep the aloe -- whether the full leaf or bottled cream -- in the fridge. The cold against the burn helps ease the pain.
Wear sunblock! :)

Eucerin cream works really good. I've used aloe vera too with good results. Vinegar takes the heat out. Last time I burned I put on aloe vera thick several times a day until it was completely healed and I did NOT peel plus kept the tan.

Do not use Aloe Vera because it will hold the heat in. Use real fruit on your skin like Cantelope, strawberries, or other. Or if you don't have those things and you can stand the smell of vinegar, pour some vinegar on strips of paper towel and lay them on your skin. To make it more bearable put them in the fridge. You can always take a shower when you are done with the vinegar and it is so worth the smell.

Try Ponds cold cream or an Aloe vera cooling gel with benzocaine that you can find in the tanning products section. Straight aloe from the plant works better after the pain subsides.

What you should have done was used some kind of sun block in the first place! But its too late for that, soo.... cocoa butter works wonders. if you're looking for a remedy you can pick up from the super market then they have some soothing creams. Ask the pharmacy, they'll tell you whats best.
