For the worldcup (and other things), some ppl say that germany is the nazi country. YES, the holocaust did take place in our counrty. But, NO, Hitler was NOT from Germany. Hes austrian. I hate him and what he did. He also killed some germans, not just others! And just because I am german, it doesnt mean I am a nazi. Only a tiny part of the population are proud of Hitler. BUT MOST OF US ARENT. Can someone explain to me why you call us nazis? coz its not funny.

You are 100% correct and I wish we would stop knocking Germany and making it synonymous with that war. The people who orchestrated it are dead and gone and we should shake hands, forgive and forget. As I said, my sympathies are with you but forgiving without forgettin is not forgiving at all. ONa lihter note, when still a teenager I had a beautiful 100% german girl-friend. She wasn no nazi... more of a tigress though. Seriously, you have a good point and have reason to be angry. The war was orrible but ENOUGH is ENOUGH. 75 years have gone by and other serious conflicts around the world that do not get the same attention. To be honest and no offence to anyone, I am a bit tired of listening to and watching it on TV about WW2 almost on a dailly basis.. I have to constantly change channels. BORING. -- Hitler did it, but your generation did NOT. So live in the knowledge that the world is not all against Germany. Pretty much the reason why thousands upon thousands of Europeans marched publicly against the war in Iraq and what we are doing to that poor people. THAT IS NOT BEING DONE IN MY NAME. Something like that !!

In general a people are responsible for their governments. Nazi party was in fact elected into office (power). So at the time of WWII the german people supported the Nazi government either though direct action or even by in-action (going with the flow).

There are still people who alive today that fought in that war. So they are naturually going to hold a grudy against Germany, just as those who faught Japan.

As to Hilter not being german, we he ruled German and thats what counts.

An as of today Germany will just have to suffer through the bad press. German did start 2 not 1 but 2 of the bloodest wars in history. They are also the first wars that involved a large precent of the world's population. So it's going to take the world a while to remember Germany for other thing besides these wars.

If Germany really want the world to forget they need to come up with something really, really great to do as a nation (I'm not say you can because it would have to be really, really mind blowing and affect the whole world.) But example would be if Germany prefected a treatment to stop human aging and then made is available on a global, affordable scale.

Unfortunately there are people who will not forget the holocust that occured in Germany. Basically the German government was part of the Nazi group and it doesn't matter that Hitler was Austrian. The German goverment let him in office and I'm sure to this day they regret that decision. Does that mean I hate today's Germans? No. There were actually a lot of German's during that time that didn't share Hitler's view, but at the same time were powerless to do anything about it.
Of course there has been a time where it was tough to be Japanese, Italian, and during today's standards, a Muslem.

Germany was the nazi country. nazi is a nickname for NSDAP which was the party that Hitler joined and then took over. Which then took over germany.

When in war the countrys useually start their probaganda, as such the Allied during WW2 were putting up probaganda against Japan, Italy, and Germany. Alot of it got stuck with that generation and the next generation. Even though the war was over, people still belived what their goverment told them throug the media. So untill the WW2 gerneration dies, which they are starting too, Hitler won't be as easely forgaten. But in 60 years it will be like the civil war. Just another page in history.

Also, something they thought me while I grew up in mein mutterland deutschland. The victors always write the history.

Something else to remember, there is no country with a clear councions. The USA treated black people just as bad as germans treated the jewish people. The word holocaust originated from England where they killed jews themself. Spain tryed to get rid of Jews as well, as did Russia and alot of other countrys. And I haven't even mentioned half the countrys... every country has history they don't want to remember, ours was just the most recent.

The birthplace of Nazism (National Socialist German Workers Party) was Germany. Plus, the Nazi ideaology was mainly created by Hitler. It sucks that Germany has that label though since Germany is far from a Nazi State, although Neo-Nazis, from what I've heard, are a problem still. As in a lot of places around the world.

Germany is called the "Nazi-country" because the holocaust took place there. Most people are ignorant and don't care to know Hitler was Austrian. They have mind set images of Germany = Nazi.

Mostly it is from ignorance, but it is also a form of denial.

During the 1920's & 1930's there was a rise in fascism throughout the western world. There were popular fascist movements in Britain, France and the US. People in those countries should be thankful that it didn't happen there, rather than arrogantly suggesting it coudn't have happened there. If Hitler had been born in Chicago, history may have been different.

It is crucial that people of all countries learn the lessons of Hitler. It could happen anywhere, there is a constant danger of it happening again. We only need to look at Cambodia or Rwanda to see that genocide is a threat that constantly haunts mankind.

I am always very glad to see that modern Germans are horrified by the history, it helps to oppose those who would rewrite the history in order to repeat it. I wish more people outside of Germany would recognise their own history and realize that evil is not a national characteristic.

When you use the reference "you", this all inclusive.
Pitiful but true that there are "some" who are prejudiced against anyone different than themselves.
To call "you" and all Germans Nazis, is their way to insult you, in the worst possible manner.

In US, we still live with slavery which ended 135 years ago. The same people still use derogatory names towards black people.

My maternal great grandfather came from Germany. I've been to Germany and love the country. Not once did I encounter anything but respect and courtesy from "Ya'll, (Texan for all of you). I hope I returned the same.

As in all cases of prejudice, stop, think for a time, and Consider The Source.
WWII is over. All of Europe suffered great pain and loss. Unfortunately, all of us may face new dangers, "together".
I did not serve in the military, but Iived through those times as a teen.

because in 1933, the German people "elected" Adolph Hitler as Chancellor and then allowed him to dictate to them and destroy the Jewish business then destroy the Jews along with the gays, educators and artists. During the Olympics that took place in Berlin, the Germans HID the signs that said, Don't Buy Jewish, Don't patronize Jewish Stores. Because the German people allowed him in 1939 take over Poland and allowed the Nazi Party to continue to exist. Because it was Germany that Hitler ruled. That is why. He didn't just kill "some Germans" he killed over 7 million people.

Yes, he was born in Austria. He was also a product of incest and abuse. But it was Germany that he ruled. It all happened in Germany. That's why.

I've known many Germans, and NOT one is a Nazi. I've good friends (since passed away) that were German Soldiers, they are the FIRST to say, they were not Nazi's. Not all German Soldiers were Nazis. People who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

Technically, the Holocaust took place in Poland. All six of the Nazi death camps were in Poland, not in Germany. Anyways, morons that still Germany the "Nazi Country" are just ignorant. They have not realized that Hitler died in 1945, the war ended in 1945, the 3rd Reich ended in 1945 and since the Berlin wall fell, Germany is a worderful country.

While Hitler Schicklegruber was indeed Austrian, it was in Germany that he came to power, and Germany was the militant nation that nearly destroyed Europe. FOR THE SECOND TIME! Perhaps it is the twentieth century tendency of the German governments to dominate, after 1200 years of French domination, but that is what most remember.
