My boyfriend is in Germany for the World Cup Games and the way we talk to each other through our PCs is through a program called Skype. P2P telephony allows you to connect with other users online to make free telephone calls. It is completely free and easy to use. All you have to do is download the program and you are good to go.

You can get a VOIP phone that will allow you to make unlimited calls for about $20 a month. Or if he can get online you can use Yahoo IM to make PC to PC calls for free.

If you would rather just use a microphone on your PC, you can both install Teamspeak, and just do it that way. It's just as clear as any phone line.
