Re-cyclying carpet was once considered in US. Unresolvable problems and cost. Dismissed in US.
Removal of contamination
Removal of latex.
Removal of dyes
Re-processing the plethora of blended fibers
Even if the fibers could be re-cycled, it would be necessary to spin them as "bulk" into yarn. Is done with new fibers, used fibers are not worth the cost which would have to sold cheaply.
