"Tampa Bay" refers to the area in and around Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater (and some surrounding areas).
Unfortunately, clumping them all together like this keeps any of these cities from becoming a "shining star" nationally.

Tampa Bay is a great city with a great waterfront...so both I guess! While visiting nearby clearwater Tampa Bay was the largest city in the area to visit. Downtown Tampa has a section called Ybor City ("Eebore") This place is packed with restaurants(some outside), clubs and a great walking atmosphere. They have a huge St. Patty's celebration which makes it a great place for Spring Break too. I would recommend going out of the city if you're interested in going to the beach...Clearwater has some great beaches...hope I helped..

Tampa is a city. Tampa Bay is a body of water. The sports teams are named such to promote a community spirit. The Devil Rays actually play in St Petersburg.

Tampa Bay is a whole area. It's worth a visit. I say that, and I don't really care for Florida.
