If two women have exactly the same abilities, but one is more attractive, its not fair but you can almost guarantee if a woman in deciding, the least attractive woman will get the job (as they're less of a threat) but if a man is deciding, the pretty one will get the job.

It depends on your definition of "successful." I think women (and men) who are more physically attractive have more opportunities and are included more than others. However, I also believe that it is used against women who want to be more than a "pretty face" or "trophy" as they are often asked silly questions like "Why are you bothering with school when you are so attractive?" and other questions/comments that invalidate any contributions they can make in the business world beyond being cute. I also think beautiful women face more discrimination from others because (1) it is assumed they obtained their position based on their looks and (2) it is assumed they are interested in "extra curricular activities" and usually blacklisted as not being team players if they don't or won't comply. Overall, it may be easier to get a job for an exceptionally attractive person, but it is extremely difficult to be taken seriously by bosses and co-workers.

Sadly, I think it is probably true - attractive people do tend to find things easier in life and have better reactions from those around them. This is true of both men and women, so your question is a little biased. I expect women experience slightly more judgement on their looks, but I think attractive men also find things come more easily to them too. At a genetic level it could be based on the fact that we will be attracted to those who have what we perceive to be the best qualities as they would be the best with which to breed for the futherance of the species - society now holds up slim and attractive, whilst once it would have been how strong and healthy a person was, a much more sensible attribute to look for when it comes to the survival of the species - now, we subconsciously associate 'attractive' with 'healthy' and so that same 'survival of the species' instinct kicks in.

They also did that test on 5 year olds, and found that the attractive kids had more friends then the unattractive ones! So therefore, an attractive person would have had a huge headstart (being cherished at home, popular at school) and therefore they would probably have the qualities of a happy, much loved person.
So yes, I think the good looking one would get the job!

Beauty is sadly everything in this world. most important thing in life is to procreate and no one smart wants ugly children.
Let's take a look at Pam Anderson and female Nobel Prize winners.
Who do you remember better?
In a world dominated by media and advertising beauty is what sells.
Do you think people would buy clothes that were on ugly people in magazines or any other product.
The product might suck but the beautiful women or guy does all the selling.
most people feel that beauty = intelligence because if you were so smart then you would know how to take care of yourself.

yes, because that means they probably have high standards, they take care of themselves, they want to impress, and they care about their appearnce obviously so they probably put these same thoughts into their work. Well for the most part, then there are the women who just sleep their way to the top...or does that really even happen? Hmmm...

Yes, it shouldn't be this way. But unfortunately it is!
We are drawn to beautiful people naturally and therefore will obviously influence people in respect of job interviews etc.

looks have nothing to do with success! but it seems that slim, attractive and beatiful women are successful... or most of the others who are not, just have a limiting low self-esteem because they're not attractive and all that!

Education is what should guide anyone (regardless of gender) to success. Those who promote or hire people based on thier looks alone are destined to failure.
