I think they should legalize it. If they did, it would cut down on other problems. Firstly, the government would have to sell it, so there goes the war on some drugs. Secondly, if it was legal, less people would be arrested for possession, there goes overcrowded jails. And lastly, everybody would just chill and smoke without worrying about everything all the time. And people will say that it does this and that and it's bad for you. But people have known that cigarettes were bad for years and the company's keep making them, killing people and taking the profits.
Also, the side effects are hardly comparable to those of cigarettes. So, why not??? Check the source list

I think we should let people screw themselves up with their drug of choice. I think that it should all be legal with the same kind of legal rules like alcohol. Personally I don't see a big difference between drinking a few beers and smoking a joint. If an adult wants to mess themselves up, go right ahead. One of the best arguments I heard for at least the medical use of maijuana was made by Montel Williams on ....MSNBC...I think. He said that he could take 4 oxycontins for pain, but he would be in a haze all the time. Or he could eat one marijuana cookie for it and it works and the effects wear off fast enough that he isn't "messed up" the rest of the day. (Montel has MS btw). He also said that he could get a prescription from his doctor for cocaine(not lidocaine, novacaine, etc but cocaine), why not marijuana?

In short: Legalize it and start collecting a new "sin tax" :P

The billions $$ spent on fighting the war on drugs could be better on spent education.
How many people do you think will all of a sudden start smoking pot, just because it is leagalized?
Legalize pot and make me a lawful citizen.
Oh yeah, it is the pharmaceutical companies who will be hurt in this deal, maybe we better just let the rich keep getting richer. What with marijuana, thc, cannabis sativa, hemp being one of them plants that so much good is coming from, it would be awfull that this plant could help so many people.
Oh hell, let me get off of my soap box.

Legalize! Legalize! Legalize! Legalize! Legalize! Legalize!

Besides how many pot heads do you know? Any of them commited hard crimes against humanity while stoned?

Depending on which country, it could either help economy or kill it. A taxation on it would make a great deal of money. But legalizing it would mean it woudln't have the same effect on everyone as it does now. There would be FDA standards, they would probably put it into cigarettes and filter it, and only let 21 year olds smoke it. Basically, it wouldn't be marijuanna anymore. At least not the way it's portrayed at this time.

The same way I felt about the legalization of alcohol. A good idea. The arguments are old and tired, I know. But seriously, is the DRUG WAR doing anything other than filling up prisons and draining taxpayers money?

Legalizing marijuana would really help a lot of things. For instance, prisons would be a lot less crowded and there are countless medical uses for it as well. Plus it would help all the anorexic girls to eat something.

I believe it should be legal. For me i don't do it but i know people who do. they won't do it around minors (17and under) or around kids and to me that is ok. i see other countries that are suppase to be christian run countries who make it legal and have no problems. If we are suppose to be a free country it should be ok. The reason it isn't is because of religion. Yet a lot of people are not into religion in the states and every other person i know does it christian or not. if we were to put everyine in jail who does it we would have more then half of our population in jail and not enough people to watch all the kids

It would be legal already if the government could figure out how to control the distribution and tax it and make a buck! Remember prohibition? If not...look it up...it was about prohibiting liquor cause the government couldn't control it.

Before they banned it there were hardly any registered addicts...now there are tonnes! Not saying legalising it is a good or bad move but people tend to like things when they are 'bad'. Look how many people think drugs, smoking, underage sex, theft, violence and drinking are good or cool?!?!?
