Sadly, Beckham's resigned as captain, so who do u think deserves to take on his role, John Terry? Steven Gerrard? or others?

I would love to see Michael Owen take over the armband -- he's an incredible striker (when he's fit), he's extremely sportsmanlike (no dives or temper tantrums or sordid happenings in the press -- happily married to his childhood sweetheart) and would make a terrific ambassador for football, and he's already proven he can carry the captain's position and the responsibility that comes with it in a number of occasions in the past (he was one of England's youngest skippers ever, in fact). He's already played for England 80 times and scored 36 goals whilst doing so (he was the youngest player to have scored for England until Rooney came along), and has a number of accolades under his belt, including European footballer of the Year (2001) and helped lead Liverpool FC to the Triple in the 2000-2001 season (UEFA Cup, FA Cup and the League Cup).

That said, he's unfortunately suffered numerous injuries throughout his career -- mostly hamstring and groin pulls, but a couple of others have been pretty serious -- a broken foot on New Year's Eve 2005, which saw him out for the rest of the season with Newcastle, and more recently an injured knee in the World Cup a few weeks ago (which will see him out until 2007). I think his injuries might count against any chance he would have as seriously being captain, which is unfortunate, as he's definitely the best man for the job! :)

Both Steven Gerrard and John Terry would make good captain for England. I would love to see Gerrard lead England. But with the new England Manager, the odds for Terry to be the next captain is higher.

in my opinion,i think i will choose gerrard,he can make something out of nothing like he did to liverpool especially in 2005 final champions league and 2006 final fa cup.terry is now on 1st place of the poll,he's amazing too..but u know he will be captain in upcoming friendly game vs greece,so maybe that game can show his potential as a captain, but if u want me to choose,i will go 4 gerrard

It should be Wayne Rooney because of his experince with the English side...but it will be Michael Owen because he is going to be the new face of English soccer.
