Sadly there is some truth to your question.We should do more for the elderly and the sick. But no healthy American should hungry or not be clothed go get a job not welfare.Don't spend money on things they don't need. Aid to other country's, we have to that is what makes us who we are and what we are about.You cant find the compassion we have for others like we have in to many places in the world.

Well they have to look like they are trying to help so the Global Community does not get angry at the U.S. Well the U.S. is certainly controling other countries, you have got that right, and they are also aiding them, with money which is being used to kill innocent people and take their land (palestine), selling weapons to other countries (israel, taiwan, india, turkey, greece, australia, south- korea the list goes on and on).
As an American people, know this, the tax you pay is helping to kill innocent people in Palestine and take their land.
I am talking about the U.S. Government and not the American people.
Also... Why didn't the United Nations give Israel a part of the U.S.A instead of dividing Palestine? I don't understand, the U.S. is a much bigger country, I am estimating at least 100 X bigger than Palestine.
Palestine is not even listed in the C.I.A World Fact Book as a country.
The Questioner, you are extremely right, they should concentrate more on the problems domestically, but if they do that now there will be chaos Internationally, due to the fact that the U.S. Government started a problem too big.

Well, as someone else noted, as the only superpower America is trying to secure and maintain its dominant position in the world, believing that if if stops being the major economic and political power, that ultimately nationally America will become weaker. So that is probably a major reason by the current Gov. focuses on international issues. Which is a shame because America really could become a great country, if it resolved some national issues like poverty, racism and Christian radicalism.

Because apparently our country needs to be sold to other countries. Someone has to pay for Social Security.
Seriously, since the US DOES belong to other countries now, we're too deep into fixing THEIR problems, instead of worrying about our own.
Unfortunately, look at Katrina. Do you think the current administration cares about poverty and homelessness in this country?
Who is fighting the war in Iraq? Not rich peoples' kids, that's for sure. It's also called population control and how not to let the little guy get ahead!

Because, it already has a majority of the US people under wraps, they need control over other countries, and this next to war is about the best way to do it.
Its all a power struggle. I would like to think its a sincere gesture, but when can you ever put sincerity and politics in the same sentence.

It's just the way that it works. The stronger super power always helps the smallest ones. Though usually we arn't in a state of dissaray as we are currently.
