TRUE! Fiberglass and plastic----cheap made, expensive to buy....Also, you have to take ALL newer vehicles to a garage to get it worked on....not like the older ones....simple to fix yourself.

Unfortunately, this is true. Look at older vehicles and the damage done in a "fender bender" barely scratched! Then look at today's 'fender benders" trunks smooshed in, hoods crushed like soda cans. The material today is just a lot lighter and looks better. Metal is heavier, weighs more= more gas to pull around, etc. Todays parts are supposed to be easier to exchange than the older ones due to the process in which to make them. A lot more time went into the making of the older cars. With time comes technology, and the newer the technology, comes speed. Cars are put together much more quickly these days, think about it. :)

It is true, but actually it is for safety. Todays cars are made to crumple on impact, absorbing the majority of the force of impact onto the car. Older cars made of steel ultimately transfer that force to you, and then you transfer it to the steering wheel via your head.
Itis also lighter. A car made 90% of Fiberglass/plastics can get at maximun 10-15 more MPG than an older car made of welded steel.
The downside is alot more damage for low speed accidents.

Well they certainly are not cheap to make. Plastic parts need tools/molds! And raw resin is very expensive, as it is a petroleum product. A mold for a door handle can cost upwards of 200,000 easy.
But yep, older cars were more durable, if you could keep them from rusting. But the gas mileage was horrid.
Plastic however, is easy to replace, vs. two weeks grinding sheet metal.

depends on what kind of tough. if you want a fast car for racing and don't care about safety issues then older cars. but if you want it for show or a safe ride down the road then go for a newer car

YES they were right, it is very true. now adays cars are made cheaper but look better. they look good but aren't strong. i think safety should be our priority not the looks of our cars.
