Marriage means exclusivity and is an official commitment. Usually couple get married to provide a legal environment for the kids they have. Marriage also has legal advantages when filing for tax refunds, and has legalities when filing for divorce.

A married spouse has many legal rights over a non-married lover.

in some ways i do not believe so. When you are married that first begining you may feel...YEAH... but later you pretty much know that no ones going anywhere. In a cohabit relationship...i think there is more bonding somehow....you are mostly friends more than lovers. you have a connection with that other person that you know they are here because they enjoy your company with out all the rituals of living together. I heard a couple say they had been together for 24 years...when someone asked why haven't they gotten married....they agreed it never crossed thier minds. Most people i guess get married because it's the right thing to do. If your planning a family, buying a home, you are more protected in a marriage than a cohabit one, speacking on legallity. I believe it is also a sin that some people are together in a sexual way and not married.but it is everyones own conclusion. I am not entending to hurt anyone or scrutinize anyway shape or form. I am in a cohabit relationship right now, and we are talking about marriage, and raising a family....i just have to justfy that through GOD himself.....

Because Theoretically, In marriage there is a commitment between two people to try to work things out. and so they bond because of the commitment. Whereas in cohabitation, people are free to come and go as they please and they really do not have that same commitment to each other that happens in a marraige. In simple words No Easy Out.!!!!

The bond is stronger because you have "merged" your families, you monies, your property and your life. You cannot just get up and leave. It's a legally binding contract and a spiritual binding commitment. And for a woman, when she has children, they have a father to care for them. It is security. And for most people, it's an act of love and fedility.

I don't know, the only difference is that married people had a ceremony and a piece of paper saying they could live together.
