a lot of constructive comments on this one... makes it pretty easy to spot the folk who have no idea about footy and are on here purely to denegrate others from the cowardly comfort of their own PCs.
We don't win the World Cup because the team isn't managed, utilised or motivated correctly. Our players are actually some of the greatest in the world 'individually', they play for the best teams and are usualy the top players of their position worldwide... The English Premiership is the highest paying league of the world... and no team is going to shell out millions for the likes of Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand and Rooney if they can't 'do the job'.
We see each season how brilliant they 'can' play but they're constantly, moved around, used in uncomfortable or unfamiliar positions, experimented with, put on at the wrong time... and not disiplined when they misbehave and that means they'll never fufill their obvious potential...
The key is correct, professional and competent management... and that's the one thing we do not have...
remember... you could have the finest ingredients in the world avaliable to you in your kitchen, but if you can't cook your still eating cold beans from a can.

They aren't incapable of winning the Cup simply because they haven't won it yet. It was 80 something years between World Series wins for the Boston Red Sox and for the Cubs, it's 101 and counting. Winning it all takes luck as well as skill; sometimes it takes more of one than the other and England seems to come up short in the luck department.

The manager's team selection or tactics didn't do him any favors. He didn't pick in-form strikers nor near enough of them. Defoe should have gone instead of Owen, Ashton instead of Crouch. Why pick walcott? he hasn't even played a competitive game for Arsenal yet. Darren Bent should have been a definite. Andy Johnson a possibility. Maybe that way we'd have had a chance to put away some of those missed penalties.
But, being England, I think we're just preternaturally crap at taking them.

Simply because they think too much and plan too much without really getting out there and implementing it.In simple words they should just play .Secondly they lack heart and by that i mean that they are too cautious, scared and nervous of losing.A lot of times having a big heart and courage to just go after something helps ,not to say that talent and plans don't count.Last of all there is a need to have a manager who is not scared of taking risks and with a different mindset for example Argentinian or Brazilian.Definately not european !!

It's a cr@p refereeing decision every time. Look at the past tournaments. 1986 - Maradonna, 1998 Beckham sent off & Sol Campbell disallowed goal. 2004 - Another Sol Campbell disallowed goal. 2006 - Rooney sent off, Carraghers penalty disallowed. There was another game a while back when Ronald Koeman should have been sent off but wasn't then he scored the free kick that put us out of that competition.

England have failed to get a manager who can train them modern football (passing football), they still play long passing football which is easy to mark.
They still lack enough individual talents, who can dribble and pass football. Joy Cole, Gerald, Aaron Lennon are not enough to bring a trophy.
The likes of Shevshenko, Zizou, are still a lack in an English team, individual players who can change a game.

Face it. Because they never played good football. All they do is run like crazy and center the ball, hoping somebody will connect with it.

because - 1. They are all getting incredible salaries. more than they worth for.
2. they are more busy promoting their side businesses(lives) than busy on practicing football.
3.and they can not take pressure or give good fight in international level
