Try Wilmington Island or the village of Thunderbolt. Very family friendly, easy laid back atmosphere in that coastal town. Close enough to the city to get there easily but far enough out too. Further inland, try Richmond.

I have no idea what your financial situation but be advised that Richmond Hill is being built up and the nicer areas are more expensive. Pooler is nice and is more reasonable. Rincon is also reasonable. A 3 bedroom house in a fairly good area would be about $1300 rent. The islands are VERY expensive especially the Landings.

savannah is one of the most beautiful places i have ever been, i lived in hinesville for a few years, richmond hill is nice too. dont let the crime rates worry you , there are bad parts of savannah like every other city, also macon georgia is the nations 2nd most undervalued housing market so you can get alot more for your money there.
