by far it would be better to sell body products. so many people get sucked in by a new lotion or potion and will pay a fortune for it.

Whatever you have the most passion for - if you really like candles as opposed to body lotions, or if you enjoy cooking, it will be easier to promote that type of product. Bear in mind, however, that you may spend more money on product to demonstrate at some shows than with others. Body products will probably require testers for people to sample, candles will be burned and therefore consumed - some plans will have extra costs incurred than others. Some will offer a higher margin of profit for their consultants, ranging from 25% to as much as 50%. You need to check into each plan you are interested in and go from there.

It depends on what the people you know would most likely buy! (And a little bit on how klutzy or graceful you are.) If you tend to knock things over or drop them, I'd say go with Tupperware or Pampered Chef over PartyLite. Longaberger is really expensive, so unless you hang out with some richer people, I'd stay away from that. Mary Kay, Avon, and Country Bunny are all great ideas: everyone needs beauty products! Just make sure there's not a zillion people in your area already selling it, else you'll really have to fight for your business, and it's hard to get started against people already established.

Do a survey in your neighborhood. Tell them you are looking into opening a home business and you would like to know which product they would be most likely interested in buying. (Let them know right away that you are not selling anything at the moment.)
Ask them if you can take their name and address down and in the future if you decide to sell what they are interested can you mail them an invitation. If you can get them to give you atleast one name and a phone number of a friend that you can also survey that would be great.
This will help you decide what is best to sell. It will also help you build up some clients.
Good luck

What do you think is missing in the neighbourhood? Quality cookware? Body Creams?? Take a look at the people you want to sell to and ask yourself - what is it they want? what is it they need??

candles are pretty popular nowadays...so I'd go with that first, then try the body products although the market is flooded with that stuff right now.
