It seems that there is more violence or it is reported more, of people breaking up and turning to violence because of betrayal. The question here is do we own anybody, what right do we have to dictate to any body, what to wear, what to say, what to think and anything else i can't think of at this moment . Maybe when people, Male and Female start to think that relationships, whether it be marriage or common law is more partnership, is more; two heads are better than one. Then maybe we will have role models to look up to, but at the moment is there hope?

I can't say for all marriages but as far as mine goes, we are a team. We do everything 50/50. There is no mine or your there is only ours. We never do anything before talking about it first. When I cook he cleans. And it works out perfect for us. We do argue but honestly not that often. Like I said before we are a team, a united front.

You can choose the relationship you want by telling the other person what is unacceptable to you and sticking to that. Marriage should be a team, a life partnership. If this is not the case I would not be in that relationship. As far as violence, there is no way I personally would live in fear of another, it would destroy any love I previously felt for that person and I would leave them.
Life is too short to be that miserable.

In any relationship there should be a partnership. But there is still going to be "ownership." For instance, my husband " owns" me and I "own" him. We may not dictate what the other can wear, eat, etc.,etc. But, seeing as neither one of us have anyone else that we can really turn to, we both answer to the other one.

I believe that if the Laws were tougher on getting divorced, then a-lot of this stuff would solve itself. When and if you wake up one morning and decide that you do not want to be married, all you have to do is file, and follow through. No questions asked!
