A balloon train being used as a "target" for the testing of different forms of radar apparatus. ALL the tales of wierd vehicles and alien creatures travellin in or with them are tales - fibs, fakes, lies and attention-seeking devices. Not only didn't anything unusual or wierd crash IN Roswell, the actual radar target/balloon train landed - it did not crash but came to earth as planned by its earthbound, ordinarly mortal launchers - many miles FROM Roswell. But hey - the tall tales have helped make a podunk out in middle of nowhere a few easy bucks.

I think it was a failed governmental experiment. There is a military base nearby, and it's possible that they were testing a new type of weapon/vehicle/whatever that got out of control. They do have silver mylar (like the balloons) that they might have been experimenting with, which sounds like the strange type of fabric the eyewitnesses described, and maybe the "aliens" were some type of crash test dummy. It might explain why they covered it up, too. They didn't want to be embarrased by the world knowing they screwed up, and they definitely didn't want to tip their hand, so the Russians would know what they were trying. Maybe I'm just a wacko, but I think aliens wouldn't be that interested in us until we get our own civilization under control.

Good question. Some say it was a military test hot air baloon. Who knows, the speculation around Area 51, Roswell is intriguing at best. Something from another world? Perhaps. I hope that one day we'll all know, but I doubt it.

My theory is that it was all staged and nothing really crashed. Area 51 is a decoy theres nothing there apart from a few soldiers and alot of actors. While the world focuses on trying to get into area 51 and seeing the aliens the real base is problably right under their noses, like a block of flats or a warehouse or something like that.

I saw evidence of a ufo that crashed, but our government says that is not what happened and they invented proof that it didn't. So it is anybody's guess.
