You shouldn't base who your daughter can go out with, by nationality, and by saying that "all" Americans are rapists and drug dealers is not only a sweeping generalization, but just plain stupid!
America is a HUGE country! Its a superpower. How do you think they reached that status if only rapists and drug dealers lived there?
I understand that you love your daughter and only want what is best for her. If you are worried about this guy, then get to know him. Invite him over for dinner or something, and talk to him.
Base your decision on his personality, and attitude towards your daughter, not on his nationality.

You know...in all the time I lived in the States, I never once met a rapist. I knew a few druggies, but they weren't dealers and I didn't hang out with them. Saying that Americans are "all" anything is pretty biased. And if you're already biased toward Americans, then letting your daughter date them wouldn't be a good idea, because you've already got it in your mind that they're bad people and you wouldn't let your daughter date bad people, right?

That's quite an exaggeration. We aren't all rapists and drug dealers. But we are rather free with our ways and rarely date with an eye toward marriage. Get to know him. Invite him over for dinner, get to know the family.

Everybody in American is not like what you see on TV. Some Americans are the finest citizens this planet has to offer, other are not. Americans are like most other cultures-we have good people and we have bad. you must learn to tell the difference. BUT-I would not let my daughter date anyone I don't personally know.

That is not true at all. Every country has people who aren't all that great. However, you can't stereotype an entire nationality based only on a few bad people. Many Americans are sweet, caring, and very sincere.

Trust your daughters judgement, encourage her to bring him home so there is an open dialogue between you. If you have doubts after meeting him, then have a talk with her, in a calm and open manner. Basing a distrust on a sterotype/rumour will only drive her away from you. I should know, I'm a daughter.
