Notwithstanding the fact he's on probation, and his probation officer might be a little unsupportive, you will also likely need to have a certified letter from the son's father allowing you to travel to a foreign country with son in tow.

Question: Why would you reward a kid with a trip to the USA after he's obviously misbehaved big time?

I think you should ask his probation officer! I'm pretty sure you will need his permission, if it is OK to cross the border!

Check with his probation officer. Depends on what the terms of his probation are. I am guessing no, but you never know.
