Who came up with the naming of these colors?Was he a racist

just a thought but maybe because black people are black and white people are white?

The tan on the skin of a person, is there for a good reason, to protect him/her from harsh invironment climate. So when we see dark tan skinned, we are to associate that person to be from African origin, as Asians, Europeans or from the North.
I think the great variation in colors has suggested black to be real darken skinned people, as white to be real brighten skinned people! But a wrong impression was given on the word brighten.

I guess it's part of history, besides white people aren't really white and black people aren't really black, well some very dark africans are thou.

I guess its another way of labeling people and putting them in categories, and I don't know who came up with that but I am more than the color of my skin

I don't know. My 4 year old says some people are brown, and he's pink. But he's at the age where he's starting to notice the differences in people. (You should hear him ask about the difference in girls and boys *groan*). Some people never grow up beyond noticing the differences in people, I guess.
