I have a friend who is a mother of two. She needs to get out of the abusive house she is living in. She is so much into not uprooting and moving her children in to an appartment again that she is living in an abusive house, not having a life of her own, and pretending for her kids sakes. Does any know of any grants, money aid, or housing aid that she could use? She needs to purchase her own house for her and her kids.

Fannie Mae, HUD, also she could try finding homes that have been repossessed by the county (they are usually sold by the county sherrif's office at very low prices).

Purchasing a home should be the last of her thoughts - along with purchasing a home comes upkeep, repair, maintenance, and insurance. If she rents, those are not her responsibility. Besides, if she is leaving an abusive situation, there is no guarantee "it" won't follow her. If she is tied to a house, it might be hard to get away. Until she is more settled and secure, I would suggest she find a rental home - try "Craig's List."
