Do not believe the old myth about spurs that simply is not true. The best way is to take your snake to vet or if you have reptile shows in your area go to those there is always breeders there willing to help. Reptile shows are the best way in my opinion to buy your reptiles not to mention alot less expensive then the petstores.

You can have the snake probed by a vet or a snake breeder,
Generally females grow larger than males but that is not always the case. Cloacal popping is a method to sex a young or newborn ball python but the only way to sex an adult is via a snake probe.

The only way to know for sure is to go to a vet that works with reptiles and have them probed. But I've been told if you look on each side of the vent and there are some small "spurs", then you have a male. A female may have them, but they won't be very pronounced. Good luck

You would need to get the snake probed by either a vet or the person/shop that sold it.
