Putting other people down behind their backs often makes people feel Superior - especially in groups. It is a form of selfish gossip, and gossip is a very ugly form a communication.

because theyre bitchy. It does tend to be a woman thing but dont let yourself get caught up in it its not nice. life is hard enough without someone slagging some one or you behind backs. Always look for the good in someone even if its hard.

Its the kind of thing teenagers do. People who call others behind their back are cowards. They are just looking for other peoples faults to make themselves feel better.

people talk about others for three reasons...
1) because they're jealous of the person
2) because they're bored with their lives and they have nothing better to do
3) because they are spiteful and want to make others feel insecure.
i did it when i was younger and it was coz i was bored or angry about how my life was that i had to hit out at others.
it passes, get on with your own life and have your own opinions! I'm happy now and i don't feel the need to gossip full stop!

Because they don't have the ability to be assertive, if they don't like something it's safer to say it hehind the back than to the face. It make make them feel better but it never resolves anything.

It's natural that people talk while trying to find solutions to their problems. BUT if the conversation gets malicious, gossipy, that's just wrong. I don't know why people gossip.

They are children and will (it seems) always act like children...
Sometimes the best put down delivered to a persons face, allows you to see their upset in their eyes... ;)

some ppl have boring lives and need to start drama to make it less boring its a shame cuz us peopl are fragile things ppl seem to forget that
