Assuming you are serious for the moment, the confusion started when Chris Colombus came to the New World and landed in what he thought was India. He called the people "Indios". The name stuck, who knows why? But have you noticed how Asian the American Indians look(facial features)? Not like people from India but like people from the heart of Asia. Not a coincidence.

Are you SERIOUS? American Indians are native americans. Their entire heritage and culture is in America. People from India's culture and heritage is India. This really is a stupid question. I mean, Native Americans and Indians are so incredibly different. Just, wow. Native Americans are Native Americans, and Indians are from India. How can you even ASK this question, seriously??

American Indians (the natives) are more honest and friendly in general and the Indians in India are the opposite of American Indians. The Indians of India are business minded people.
I heard somewhere in India long time ago “Christians die for their countries, Muslim die for religion and Indians of India die for Money.” I think American Indians may die for their culture and social value as a native Americans.

I'm amazed at how many people don't know the answer and then whom go on to try to blame others because of that.
Columbus realised the world was round and set off to try and find India by heading the other way. I.e. towards where *we* know America is. He found land and assumed it was India and so called the natives 'Indians'.

American Indians like to be called Native Americans, they are the true natives to this continent (North America), Asian Indians are from India. You can thank Columbus for this mix up (leave it to a white man). I have Native American blood flowing thru my veins so excuse me if this is a little 'touchy' for me.

is what you're getting at the fact that American Indians is a misnomer? they aren't really Indians, but we've now called them that since Europeans came to this side of the Atlantic. so now we just call them American Indians even thought they are clearly not from India.
what would you like to call them?

When Colomb discovered the continent for the first time,he thought they were Indian islands not knowing that was a new land. So he called the native people 'indians'.
