I have worn heels for so long now I cannot walk without heels on. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yep. This happened to me many years ago because I wore high heeled shoes CONSTANTLY. It does shorted your achilles tendon, but even worse, it shortens the QL muscle in your low back and can lead to permanent lower back problems. I HAD to stop wearing them, so a therpist recommended that I switch to a slightly lower heel. I did that initially. For several weeks, my lower legs and ankles hurt like I had done a tough workout, but then it stopped. Secondly, I switched to near-flats, with just a very slight heel elevation. Same thing happened again. But after 2 weeks, my body adjusted (you're using muscles that have been on vacation for a while) and now I have much less pain in my hips and knees.

I love wearing heels because I am short and they look better with skirts. I don't like wearing flats. I think the only flats I have are for the beach or to wear when I am working around the house.
