Run a humidifier in her room at night or have her sit in the bathroom with a steamy shower going, all the steam will help her lungs open up a lil bit so she can cough up whatevers in her chest. Dont give her any of the natural remedies with honey in it, she can't have that until she's a year old. At 6 months, there is not much you can do but comfort her and do what I have listed. Even though the coughing seems uncomfortable, it is necessary to cough up whatever is in her lungs so she's not sick anymore. It's just the body's own way of healing itself.

DO NOT EVER GIVE A CHILD UNDER A YEAR HONEY OR LEMON!!!!!! I saw that answer and about died, Honey carries BOTULISM which is a DEADLY infection for little babies, and lemon is CITRUS which they aren't allowed to have until they are at least 10 months!!!! Is she teething? If she is then she is prob. swallowing extra saliva and it causes a slight cough. Has she just discovered a new sound she can make, and likes to practice it, she also discovered that you pour attention on her when she makes the noise, so another benefit of 'coughing'. All in all don't do anything before calling your pediatrician or even local clinic, they are used to these kinds of ?'s, particularly from new mothers. That is the best advice from any mother.

Please do not do any home remedies for a slight cough. Especially honey or tea! Honey can kill a baby under one, and tea is a diuretic and will just dehydrate your baby even more. Use a humidifier in her room and if that doesn't help after a day or so and she gets worse, call your Pediatrician. If you are just starting to use your Air Conditioning, it could be related. Babies aren't used to that circulation of air. You don't need to turn it off, she just needs to get used to it. As long as she doesn't have any other symptoms she should be fine with some extra water from a sippy cup (try not to use a bottle). Good Luck!

A cough is an irritation of the air way / throat.
Needs to be lubricated with fluid.
Use an electrolyte.
I think the brand name is Pedialite.
Also stress causes coughs in some humans.
Hold and comfort the baby.
Sincere touch is very soothing.

When my daughter had that the dr told me to give her triaminic cold and cough and it was gone in two days. But I would still take her to the doc if I were you, you just never know. It could be the start of something much worse. NEVER NEVER give honey to a baby, there are botulism spores in honey that a baby cannot always fight off. Botulism can cause brain damage and death!! Talk to the dr.

There is no big deal to call the Dr office and ask the nurse, better safe than sorry. DON"T give an infant honey. It is not pasteurized and may contain bacteria. Children should not have honey until they are over 1 year of age.

Has she been fully vaccinated, Pertussis aka Whooping Cough is going around alot and can be very serious, it starts out with mild cold like syptoms, I would take her to the Dr just to be safe for Pertussis they can also just do a quick swab to test her for it and than they would give you all antibotics after taking them for 5 days you would no longer be contagious. Good luck.

You must identify what cough this is.
Some coughs are due to irritation of the throat.
Some hotness.
The best remedy is to eat honey.
You can dilute the honey in water for her to drink. But do not dilute too much though as your intention is to make the honey work at it's maximum.

If she is sick she is sick. It is either a bacterial or viral infection. If it is viral you can attempt to relieve the symptoms but in also may be bacterial which could lead to greater difficulty. I would not play around with home remedies unless there is no concern...Go to the Doc

Lots of liquids, to keep throat lubricated and avoid irritetion. Some nice cool mist, perhaps with a srig of mint, in it, as an inhalant - just within the near proximity.
