It's probably one of the best books ever written. I know a lot of people don't look forward to reading in it school but that's because it's required reading and who wants to do that? But if you sit down and read it a couple times, you realize what a fantastic story it is. It's probably one of the few reading requirements from school that was actually enjoyable.

I read "The Catcher in the Rye" many years ago because I wanted to and I loved it.
The main character spoke to me. I also felt that I couldn't stand the hypocrisy of the world and even though I am an adult now, I still can't stand it.
I will always feel sympathy and empathy for Holden.

Yes. I read it in the library of the college I was attending. It was the first book that I actually laughed out loud while reading. I had to leave the library because it was so funny!
Great book - now it is required reading in 11th grade English. I'm glad that high school students are reading it. In my day, the only book that I remember reading (which I LOATHED) was "Silas Marner." We also read "Our Town" in 11th grade which wasn't too bad.

I read it back in high school because I had to. Thinking back, I enjoyed reading it more than some other assignments.
Hmmmm ... think I'll find it at the bookstore and read it again.

I've read it several times and teach it to my freshmen students. Every year it's their favorite book. I do think you have to be age appropriate--anywhere from 15 on.
