with a browser hijack ,before you try to clean your p.c ,you must look for any programs that have been installed that you dont recognize, try looking in add\remove programs and look for anything unusual or anything regarding msn or i.e
if you find anything remove it,it will normally be a search tool or even a toolbar, thinking about it,msn have a toolbar so see if you have installed that(they sometimes sneak them into installers to catch you out).
once you have deleted any suspect programs,go to http://www.safer-networking.org/,and download spybot, this is one of the best anti-spyware programs avalible and also imunizes your p.c against future attacks
once you have installed this, imunized, and updated it,run a scan and fix any selected problems that you find
after this you should go back to internet options and all going well, you will be able to change your homepage back to your preffered one
good luck

Is your adware se and virus programs up to date. Don't care what others say if its updated ad-ware SE is good Don't have to get the paid items if someone recommends one that is trial or pay for check them out see how many times they recommend a product. They may be OK but should put you on alert. After you clean this up also get spywareblaster which prevents spyware from getting on your computer in the first place.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
keep up dated after you install and every time you update immunize as instructed. Your spyware will be cut back by 95%-100% Also if you pickup the virus/spyware via a virus scan do a google search for instructions. May have to turn off system restore.

When you want help with this kind of problem, you need to give more info than this. Did your scans find an infection? If so what is the name of it? Usually these Hompage hijackers put Icons in your system tray and give messages. Do you have anything like that? If so, tell us what the Icon looks like and what the message says. All this information will help me and other narrow down the infection and tell you what software will remove it.

The only choice you give us right now is to make a shotgun type of recommendation of running a long list of programs that probably won't solve your problem.

The best recommendation I can give you is to go to this Windows site and let the MS MVP who wrote this article guide you through the proper removal process. This same process can be used for AV programs also. You can use other programs besides the ones she has you download. I suggest you try those AdAware again using her procedure and set up of the program. I think you will find quite a difference over what you did.

NY is known as "The Big Apple" because long ago a famous folk hero (Johnny Appleseed) planted a single seed in the middle of the city. Then, in a strange warp in space-time, a boy named Jack planted a seed he believed to be magical in the same spot. In what is still considered a marveling biological advancement, the two seeds fused together on a molecular level. After an impressive rain, the seed hybrid grew into an apple 300ft tall and approximatively 330ft wide. The strangest thing being the absence of a tree. It seems the apple was completely normal, except it grew straight from the ground with its own roots like a beanstalk of some sort. For decades to come, people would visit the city and look up at the impossible fruit and think "that is a big apple". After a while people began referring to the city itself as "The Big Apple". But then, 1943 Oct 11th, something strange happened. As the city laid to rest, the night once again upon them, there was a blinding flash of red light. The flash lasted for nearly 4-5 seconds. No one is certain what caused the flash, but once it was over the apple had simply disappeared. Not only had it vanished, the ground it had grown from had closed as if it were never there. Some say the apple had grown so large it created some sort of fruity supernova and collapsed in on itself in a black hole. Some say the aliens responsible for the death of the dinosaurs came back and destroyed the apple as well. We may never know exactly what happened that night, but one thing is for sure. That was a big-*** apple.

Hi there,

Firstly, AVG and Lavasoft are a complete waste of time. Yes people think they're great because they are free, but their protection capabilities are now rated as some of the worst available in the security space. Avoid at all costs.

If you think you are infected with malware the best option is to download and install a Free Trial of Prevx1. This program is currently reported to have the most powerful detection and cleanup capabilities of all security software available today. You can download their free trial which will scan your computer and remove all infections free of charge. More info and a link to the free trial is available from their homepage:

ha ha ha...i think

or perhaps not. Are you using Spybot by any chance? This has an IE Tweak in the advanced menu that prevents the home page from being changed by the current user. After you've unchecked this box, you may need to restart in order to update the registry. If it's not Spybot, another legitimate prog may be doing the same thing.

go to www.majorgeeks.com and check out the freeware downloads under spyware on list on left hand side of screen. Also, you can register for free and check out the forums - but remember - they are in USA so you may not get an answer until next day due to 6 hour time difference!!!!!

Usually adaware get it...
You did run a good anti virus scan? I like zone alarm, or mcafee, butr mcafee tends to have troubles and slows a system. I think they offer a free scan at their site. Zone alarm is free if you don't opt for the pro version.
Sounds like it could have happened when you installed a program, they are getting sneakier about changing your home pages!
Good luck!!

First, you could try pulling down the Tools menu on your ie. ~Manage Add-ons. It is possible you can disable the BHO from there. While you are in there, look for BHOs and active-x you did not agree to.
Good luck!
