Decide what you want to do as a career ... and make a commitment to yourself to get qualified for this career.
Get the qualifications for this job/profession.
Retool yourself educationally - get a college education, professional training etc.
Get work experience while at college - internships etc
Keep a clean record at all your jobs - late coming, discipline etc.
Work/study hard ... be consistent.
Build a good résumé - extra curricular activities etc.
Network ... network ... network.
