I asked that same type of question of any mother I could find when I was pregnant with my first child. Of the mothers who went through most of their labor without pain medication, there wasn't a single one who didn't admit it was the worst pain of their lives. The labor of my first child was in the hospital laying on a table, and it was torturous to the extreme. However, my second child's labor occurred at my home in a wading pool filled with very warm water. As soon as I sank into the water, the pain went away almost completely. The water labor made it possible for me to actually ENJOY my last child's labor, and it was done without having to give birth in the water. So, even-though labor can hurt horribly, it can also be practically pain-free, even without pain medication. Women can quite often have a water labor in hospitals and birthing centers, also.

Yes, labour pains hurt. How much? It differs with everybody because everyone has different pain thresholds. Some women go through difficult labour hardly making a sound while others with very tiny babies scream the house down!
Some of this is because of fear and apprehension. The important thing is to ask all the questions you need to ask your midwives or your doctors and believe that things will go well. Fear and panicking worsen the perception of the pain.
The good thing is that there are very good methods of pain relief and it is also worth discussing these with your doctor/midwife before D-day as this makes a significant difference to your total birthing experience.
I hope that at the end of it all, you would say, is that all there is to it? Not too bad I think. My baby looks so cute and lovely and it was all worth it! We would then be expecting a second baby in a couple of years maybe?
All the best. I pray all goes well with you!

It is the worse pain you will ever experience in life. When you get older and if you decide to have children that little baby will be worth all the pain. I am very glad that you are just curious. Enjoy you your life now as a young girl. There are two may teen moms having babies. As they grow they are missing out on on the fun things you will be able to do because you are waiting.

Yes, contractions are painful, and labor is very hard. There are ways to alleviate the pain, things like an epidural (a local anesthetic injected into your spine) can help numb the pain and help ease labor. But yes, labor is painful and difficult, but life's best rewards are reaped from hard work.

Yes. It is the worst pain you will experience. But here is the catch: By the time you reach the 7th month, you will be SOOOOOO miserable that you will grab your doctor by the lapels of his little white lab coat and shake him as you scream "GET IT OUT OF ME NOW." From that moment forward, you will never again worry about the pain of childbirth. And, when you finally do go into labor, the only thought that will cross your mind is "Hell yeah." Plus, they have really good drugs to help now.

It does hurt, but it is pain with a purpose. You're brain NEEDS those responses to give you a safe birth. The reason so many people have c-sections is that they block those pain messages with unsafe epidurals. Check out hypnobirthing. I did this with my 2nd labor - what a difference. You basically train your mind to understand what is happening in you're body, to not be afraid and to understand that its really just pressure that you are making more painful if you are afraid. Check it out. Natural childbirth is MUCH more safe. Dont be fooled by someone who says it isnt.

Yes it hurts very much and you are so uncomfortable in that room with all the doctors and the machines beeping and everyone telling you to push. But at the end when you look at your blessing, your creation, your newborn baby, the pain fades away and all you feel is happiness and responsibility and joy for this little person. It was worth it to me and I would do it again in an instant!
