Oh no, no, no, no, no!!!!! I am a nurse and have given PLENTY of pediatric vaccinations. You must ask for the accellular dpt. Less side effects, lower fevers. Also, premedicate your child. If their appointment is for 2pm, give them Tylenol about 30minutes before. This reduces pain and fever. The reactions to dpt are fever, pain and swelling and redness at the site. In very, very rare cases, seizures but this usually happens when the child is already suffering seizure activities. There are risks to all immunizations but the alternatives are much more horrible. Relax. You're a good mom. I can tell just by you reaching out and asking. Just relax. You're okay.

Check with your doctor to confirm whether or not there is thimerosol in the DPT vaccine that's being used. Thimerosol has been proven to be one of the leading causes of autism in young children - ask for an alternative, and if there isn't, I would strongly recommend considering refraining from the vaccine, or waiting until baby is older.

My son became agitated / uncomfortable and needed holding and rocking. This lasted a few hours, and then he was exhausted. Dr. warned me that adverse side effects sometimes present, and as long as mild and not accompanied by fever = ok. He slept well, that evening and was just fine in the morning. I assume symptoms can vary and I know that many parents advocate against vaccinations, but after reading the literature on the pros and cons and speaking with our pediatrician, we decided to do the conventional thing and vaccinate, which was best for us. Our pediatrician is adamant about vaccinations....has has experience in third world countries and has seen the atrocities of (preventable, by vaccine) diseases.

They uisually always cry but it is for the best. Don't ever skip vaccines unless your child has had a severe reaction, still check with your pediatrician first, differnent vaccines are made of different things.
Now there are some available orally! Might want to check in oin that, very new!
Now, if your child get more than a mild fever, or gets a bad rash trouble breathing, get him/her to the ER, signs of serious but very rare complications.
Vaccines have eradicated allot of the most deadliest viruses we once had to endure, but some are on the comeback as some parents don't vaccinate their kids, you wouldn't want that on your conscience!

The doctor will give you a sheet explaining all the side effects and what exactly this vaccination does. Mine had no side effects. Her first one at two months she did cry more than normal that night, but that was it. Fever is common, and fussiness. But if you notice any other symmptoms always call the doc, that is what they are there for!!! Chances are yours wont even get a fever, mine didnt.

If you give your baby some tylenol (check with dr first) 30 minutes before the shot and then every 4-5 hours afterward for three more doses you might not notice a reaction at all. I did this with my dd and she hardly even had a bump.

They cry. They can get a little bit of a fever (give them infant Tylenol), they may get a runny stool. Lots of love from mom usually helps. Some babies don't react at all.

my 7 month old had no reaction at all, plus here in India we have pain-free and fever-free DPT vaccine ... its just a bit more expensive than the regular one, if you live here ask your doc for those.

They can get a small fever, be a little tired and whining the first day or two. Nothing serious.
