My graduation isn't so recent anymore, but my high school was somewhat like that. However, like most of the students, I didn't hang out with the popular crowd and didn't pay any attention to them. That's the strange thing; everyone likes the popular kids but no one cares about them.

People still are like that. We attempt to hide our own insecurities about us in the image that is acceptable to the world around us. So we beome mean to those who do not fill our idea of what is acceptable.
