A facilitator leads the group or session, but the object is to get the group to put forward their views, knowledge etc. into the session.
So you need to be able to put a small amount of info in and listen to what others come up with. It's important that you make sure each person there is able to have their say, but keep arguments and differing opinions calm and quiet. Make each person feel that their input is valid. Remember to encourage the quieter people to speak.

Facilitator is simply another word for teacher. What I've found it takes are these:

1) Motivation,
2) Respect, and
3) Passion.

If you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others, and are good at it, then you'll make a good facilitator.
