The ones who drew pictures on walls did not have writing, hence the pictures. I think you're combining three different historical eras in human comunication evolution.

The Magdalenians were allegedly the first to do cave paintings in Europe from 18,000 to 10,000 BC. There is a cave in france that even has two superimposed images which means that when there is a flickering fire you see the two images alternatively - which means that this is also the first animation ever.

I think you are talking about the paintings done by homo erectus in the cave in Lascaux, France.

However, recently there was this discovery of the earliest known artwork by man in a cave near Angoulême, France, circa 25,000 BC, so it's about 27,000 years old:

According to this article from February 8, 2006, this discovery is several thousand years older than the Lascaux paintings. The discovery was actually made in November, 2005, but kept secret: http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,,1704713,00.html

Here are the beautiful Lascaux paintings done by homo erectus, for those who'd like to see:

The first bloggers!

Really, rephrase. Maybe you left a symbol trhat didn't show up? is there a link to it you can post?

If there's no writing, no one's going to leave a name, let alone how to pronounce it.
