I don't know myself because I am too busy living to stop and peer into my navel anymore. I tried that "but who am I?" stuff when I was young and insecure about my identity, but concluded that it's not really that important if you are a regular, functioning human being. Isn't that enough? A label isn't going to change anything except to put me in a box of my own making.

Because we will never be able to know ourselves. Because there are so many factors hindering to get that knowledge. Our brain, heart, sense organs and the physical environment are so dynamic that it is impossible to analyze the whole situation at one moment.
