Pet mice and rats are not dirty animals. You people who say they are, are ignorant. I have 22 pet rats, and 2 mice. Rats are wonderful pets, and are very friendly..and very social. They can be trained to use a litter pan, come when called, and do obsticles. They are very CLEAN animals.
It actually was the fleas that were on wild rats many, many years ago that carried the plague.
People saying they are disease ridden..Yes, wild rats can carry diseases...but not domestic PET rats..they are as clean as you keep their cage.

Mice and rats make great pets. Rats live longer longer than mice and tend to be a bit smarter and can become quite affectionate. Both are much better pets than hamsters which tend to be evil little creatures that bite everyone and stay up all night. Mice and rats are also very easy to care for and are great for kids whose parents aren't ready to commit to or don't want a dog or cat.

Rats are extremely smart, and clean animals. Mice are not very smart and their urine smells extremely bad no matter how often you clean out the cage.
Rats will go everywhere with you, and can be taught tricks very easily. They enjoy being with people, and will sit on your should all day without going potty;-)
HAHA it was the rats coming in on ships that carried the flea that caused the black plauge.. Do you have any idea how long ago that was?
Domestic rats do not carry diseases...

It was the mice in the Four Corners incident that killed so many people. It was the fleas they carried. Same with the Plaque, the fleas that the Rodents carried were responsible for millions of deaths. They may be cute and cuddley, but they are still Rats and can carry Disease

Mice are not rats. Would you call Mickey Mouse a rat? Well, only maybe someone in some old James Cagney movie could call him "Ya dayty rat!", I suppose. So, my advice is for you not to kill Mickey and Minnie if you go to Disney. Other mice and rats are killable if you enjoy the hunting. :)))

Mice are the cutest little things. The problem is they eat EVERTHING. So if you get one make sure he stays in his cage. Give him a nice big cage cause they're very active. My little mouse runs around all over his BIG cage and really loves to be stroked. Not sure how long they live but they're definitely smart!
