My grandson is really wanting to know this. I've foung many answers but none in approximate mileage.

The moon orbits the Earth in an elliptical orbit, not circular. Its distance therefore varies from 221,441 miles at perigee (closest distance) to 252,724 miles at apogee (farthest).

It is 320000 KM or 515297 miles from earth.
