It means that give a compliment or say thanks (praise someone for a particular reason), but don't let it get to there head by over doing it. So if you think a woman is pretty, then say "Oh you look pretty" (little in the pot) don't say "Oh My GOD you are the most amazing woman I have ever seen, do you have idea how pretty you are!" (profit).

So, basically praise someone but make sure that you don't praise someone so much that it gets stuck in their head and actually go overboard with it or let it get to their ego.
