We have just been away once and we invited another family who also brought their extended family along consisting of the x lodger and newphew. It was a nightmare for my partner as she found out on the third night the other family had been slagging her and our kids off. The so called friend spent the entire holiday making snidy remarks whilst the lodger and newphew ran out of money and scrounged off the rest of us.

I think its only fair. We had a similar situation a couple of years back. We went to Frinton On Sea to put the situation right and it was the best 2 weeks holiday we've ever had, glorious sunshine. The beech is only 35 minutes walk from the town centre (it used to be right on the doorstep, something to do with silt build up). I can also recommend the Cod Almighty the best fish and chips for miles around. We even had a couple of romantic meals there, candles, bottle of Iron Bru the works. Family harmony was well and truly restored after that trip. I think the Radio One roadshow is going there later this year, best check with Smiley Miley for the dates, that will be worth catching. Good luck, enjoy the chips

I would say that your family are not owed another holiday and you should not feel obliged to give it to them - sometimes things happen and people have a miserable time and that is life. So if money or is tight maybe treat them in a different way - for example, take them out for the day and acknowledge that although it isn't the same as a holiday, it is just a small treat to make up for it.

However, if money and time are not an issue, I'm pretty damned sure they aren't going to turn around and say that they don't fancy another holiday!

You always get a lot of argument when you go on holiday with a lot of people, it's like living with them 24 hours a day and you find out what they're really like.

I suggest taking your wife and children on holiday and say that it will be special as it will be only the family. I'm sure she'll understand that it wasn't your fault the last time.

Put the last holiday down to bad experience and i hope that you try to sever contact with you 'friend' as this person certainly sounds like they were taking advantage of you.

Holidays are stressful enough without bringing others into the mix! Just go next time with your wife and kids. Don't be railroaded by others who want to join you. I'm sure they will get the hint if you put your foot down :-)

First off why would anyone want another group to stay with them on vacation.
I think you should take your wife and kids and leave the misfits behind to find their own fun. Why should you be responsible for other people?
If I were there they would be out on their keesters and I would be living it up and not letting them take advantage of my family.
Now, take your wife and kiddos and have a great holiday!

The less people you take on holiday the better. Sounds like you need a holiday from your family. Go on, you deserve it!

You poor things, not much of a holiday for you. If you can afford it, do, a nice holiday to make up for that terrible one. Or even a weekend away.
