it is used to protect our sexual organ, against any foreign objects
that will touch our skin, my advice for all women, do not shave your pubic hair, because that is beautiful to look upon

pubic hair is actually a dry lubricant to prevent friction burns during intercourse

its up to the woman whether she want to shave or not but if the man shaved as well then both could end up with rashes or friction burns
