This question made me laugh and I totally agree. What's even scarier are the people who get the free makeovers and end up looking just as bad. If that's what you get for buying over priced cosmetics, I'll stick to my Cover Girl and Max Factor.

Having worked on counters myself in the past I can honestly say only about 20% of the staff wear what could be deemed as a lot of make-up.
I suggest that if they all look 'Clown-like' and orange where you shop that you try a different store. A lot of these people have worked in the industry for a long time and have a great deal of knowledge.
Instead of forming such stereotypical opinions why not actually open your eyes to the reality.

Majority of make-up counter girls just put far too much foundation on and fake tan. However if you go to some of the new generation of make-up counters like MAC, Nars, Bobbi Brown or even stores like Space Nk the girls have a much more realistic look about them. Plus they are much more helpful and friendly!!

I only go the ones who look decent! There are some in Bristol where the ladies are a bit older and they look good, these are the people I go to ask advice! However theres one woman who is a older who wears a really pale lipstick and her make up does her no favours, needless to say I have never been to her counter! I never go to the freaky looking ones!

No it really is not racist. you're extra trusting of the opinion of a black woman because she will be able to understand your hair and also your makeup criteria. This information is mostly the acceptable results of journey. it really is not likely a white woman would have a similar publicity to the adventure had to artwork along with your epidermis tone or hair.

very gud question (lol)
those females standing near at the counter hav access to any and every make up there (coz its samples and does not cost them anything)
so they try everything and end up looking like a clown or joker out of the circus
and 1 more thing they smell funny to if we pass by them

. TThey have on way to much product! And the lighting in the ceiling and the lighting under the counters makes a nasty glare on the faces making them look like walking plastic people They take the expressions right off there faces.

Probably because she used too much self-tanner for the face. It's easy to do and a very common mistake. She could also have put too much makeup on. These are both good possibilities.

Because they are there to sell you the company product so quite often have not had training or are not qualified in beauty therapy. Perhaps the commission and pay is so low that they can't afford to pay the electricity bill and have to make-up in the dark!
