To add RAM this is also called virtual memory and can be done by doing these steps.
Go to start at bottom left of screen.
Step 1:from the desktop, right click on the My Computer icon and select properties.
Step 2: Choose the 'Advanced' tab.
Step 3: In the 'Performance' option choose 'Settings' button.
Step 4: Now from teh new window choose 'advanced' tab.
Step 5: now choose the 'Change' button from the virtual memory option.
now here you can change the size of virtual memory by tying in the box or let the Your PC do the job for you.
If this dont work try system restore to a point when your PC was working okay. Good Luck!

There are so many reasons for the poor performance of computers. I reccomend you better consult a computer technician to solve your speed problems. Anyway some of the assumptions are:
* Hardware problems such as - overheat of microprocessor and other devices inside the system box, faulty harddisk, etc. Low memory
* malicious programs specified on your starup folder or registry

Try looking at your task manager.
Place mouse indicator on bottom tool tray thingy and right click and see what your pc is doing and shut down irrelevant programmes.
Then go into "my computer" control panel then add/remove programmes and see what you've got there that you could delete.

If this is a relatively new development, you may have contracted spyware, a virus, or just need 'cleaning-up'
