The media instills fear in people everyday, telling you of terrorists plots and the failing Iraq war and so on..but remember, America is the worlds formost military power, you have more chance of being hit my a meteorite then being involved in a terrorist attack (National Statistics Office-UK)

When we were young, we really didn't understand the issues. There have been other moments like this before. In the 60's kids were taught to duck and cover under their desks at school. Even though we knew it was for nuclear attacks, we really didn't understand consequences of that. I sure hope the Japanese didn't waste time on that foolishness, because it obviously had no protective results. It was a mind game to make kids feel they could be safe.

Maybe you're just coming to realize the reality of the world around you, which is a part of adulthood. A good question may be...where would you go to feel safer? Is there really any place to go? Europe has had terrorist attacks. The African continent is a mess. So. America has corruption and drug cartels. Various Asian countries have their share of issue. Where are you going to feel safe?

The reality is, we need to cope with the world as it is at any given time. Maybe it's easier for me because I live in California where at any second an earthquake could cause mass damage. You can't worry about it, only be prepared for it. I could move, but then what? Snow storms? Tornadoes? Hurricanes? Typhoons? Worry about things you have direct control over. With the rest, all you can do is be prepared. If this fear spreads to life itself, then get counseling.

You're unfortunately a victim of the fear tactics of your president and his henchmen/women, who think it's "honorable" to lie, murder, and devastate innocent countries and their people, just to perpetuate the myth that we are in danger after 9-11-01! When was the last time that they had to change their stupid "fear colors" to a different level?? They know that people of intellect AREN'T BUYING the crap that they are spewing any more!! Fear is a very wasteful and useless emotion, my friend, and I'm sorry that you're going through a difficult time with it! But, like anything else, fear becomes real ONLY IF YOU ALLOW IT TO!! Don't let these ruthless bastards in the White House turn you into a coward!! Tell them to screw themselves, that you will FEAR NO LONGER!!! You deserve MUCH BETTER than you're getting right now, so take some positive steps to combat the lies and misinformation--and most importantly, go to the voting booths in November and kick them all out of office for not doing their jobs effectively! Take control, and FIRE THEM!! They are, after all, supposed to be working FOR US!!!

If its any consolation, alot of us grew up in the cold war and it was not uncommon to see Fall-out shelters being sold on street corners. Did we feel safe? Of course not, but we survived and were able to not think about the worst that could happen, and it didn't. Perhaps because of dumb luck or because nobody, anywhere wants to inflict such misery on the world. If you follow Jesus, he said, "Fear not, I will be with you always, even unto the end".And its true, he is with us.

Thomas P has it right on this one the Media. If it bleeds it leads they say and scare tactics are a great form of social control. Don't smoke you are killing yourself and others, don't drive and talk you're too stupid to do that without crashing , don't eat you may get cancer, dont look under you bed Osama Bin Ladin is hiding there, the water is poisoned the air will give you asthma ....

living in a world filled with wickedness would make anyone fearful of the world they live in, take heart though, it is only going to get worse before it gets better
