I have heard some singing with their real Brit accent, but this question still puzzles me.

IT is a well know secret that all BRITISH are wannabe AMERICANS....the PHONY ACCENT THEY contrive when they speak iS washed away when they sing and then they are happy because they sound like a YANK !!

Actually no one has an accent when they sing - its just not the Brits. If you asked a Brit they'd probably ask why Americans were singing just like them. And not to mention that we have the same kind of language we just pronounce things a little bit differently - but I can usually pick out English bands from American bands.
It has NOTHING to do with the fan base or that they think America is a better market. That's just absurd.

I think that if you listen closely, you'll find the difference and you'll notice the British accent even in music but it's harder to detect. It's true that it's not the same as talking, and that is because singing with an accent is harder and American English is a more simplified version of the British one.
