After this get artist "best of"s, maybe Ken Burns collections which are artists career retrospectives. He has these of all the major jazz legends
The artists you "must" have are John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Duke Ellington, George Benson (without the singing, guitar only), Wes Montgomery (live, not over produced with strings).
On top of these essentials maybe The Crusaders, Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh
