It's called the "Cackle-Syndrome" and it's related to the noises you hear from a flock of hens in a hen-house. It has to do with a "togetherness" whereby they talk and think at the same time and somehow understand each other.

It's a peculiarity of women ( or hens). It's also the reason women can sit around in a sewing circle and jabber away while they sew a large quilt or blanket....something that men would very seldom , if ever, do.

That's a misconception that women talk a lot. I know men who talk twenty times more and twice as fast than I ever could! If you meet a woman (or man) who talks way too much for the place they're in, then you've met either a very social person or someone so lonely they need someone to listen to them. I, on the other hand, am a quieter woman who doesn't like soap operas at all, doesn't like to talk on the telephone any more than necessary, and prefers Monday Night Football to any reality show. Don't generalize us that way, please.

You should have said Why do *some* women talk a lot.
Not all of us are motor-mouths. Besides, I know quite a few guys who talk a lot more than I do. I don't even answer their calls sometimes because I know they're going to keep talking for hours.

It's the woman's strength to communicate. It came about as an evolutionary need in raising children.

So women, when they sometimes talk a lot, feel more powerful and in control of the situation, than when they are quiet.

Since we're generalizing here.. my answer (being a woman) is .. Women express themselves through speech. It's how we say we're mad, sad, happy or depressed.. we like to talk it out and then we feel better.. and I must say that it is a much better form of communication than say... how guys handle things.. ya know, with fights and hitting things and people, or getting drunk and swearing all the time.. but who's generalizing?

Hey, I know quite a few men that talk nonstop! It's basically just different peopel. Some women AND men talk alot. Others are just listeners. Sometimes its a control thing, to be noticed, you know what I mean? Others are just-know-it-alls.

Ok, according to my wife, here are a couple of reasons why:

1. Women are detailed oriented, and when telling a story, they want the man to feel as though he was there with her when the situation happened.

2. That's the way God made them

We have to talk alot because some men are really stupid... It seems like we talk alot, but really we are talking slow so you can understand, and we have to repeat ourselves because again, things are hard for you to comprehend... Also, we have to give every detail so men like you can get the full picture of what our conversation is about...

We dont, do we? Sometimes I feel no-one hears a word I say so I have to repeat myself over and over. Men only hear what they want to hear so they need reminding and reminding to take the garbage out. Geesh, they make it hard. Dont get me started on the kids... LMAO (joke)

A great philosopher once said: "When the brain stops thinking the mouth starts talking", so who am i to argue, I am no philosopher, just a normal regular man.
