you can do it by sharing printer.
Am assuming you are using Windows XP.

It looks as if you've received a lot of opinions on how to do this. Would you like to do it right? If so, then you will only need to purchase one relative inexpensive piece of equipment and 2 CAT5 Patch Cables. You will have to measure what lengths you will need because I cannot determine where your devices are located. Once you have the aforementioned, simply connect the USB printer to the designated port, connect the PCs to the switched ports with CAT5 cables, start the PCs, assign each PC an IP address and you should be off to the races.
If you should find that your printer is not USB and rather parallel, you will have to opt for 2 components: the print server that will plug into the back of your printer and a stand alone switch. If you poke around http://www.tigerdirect.com you should find exactly what you need. This is a pretty basic set up so just consult with your salesperson, read all of your docs, and you'll be fine.

Install a router and setup a network through windwos or Mac OS. On the computer with out a printer make sure it is set to print to the computer w/ a printer. One last thing the computer w/ the printer has to be on in order to print.

We all know that with a LAN, we can share the printer so that the two computer can access the printer, but following the simplest and cheapest method u have to use a switch box to connect two computers to print through one printer.
thanks

You could buy a switch box . assign A or B for each computer and just turn the knob when you print.
OR if you want you can buy a LAN and network your computer so both can access the printer.

You have to use a LAN cable to connect the 2 computers. You have one main computer where the printer will be connected then connect your other computer using a LAN cable.
