Hi there, I suffer terribly with these, I tend to have them on my neck mainly and a couple on my torso.

The most permanent and effective way of removing them is have the doctor "freeze" them off. They shrivel up and drop off. I haven't heard of any homemade remedy that worked for me, other than if the skin tag is large, then tie a piece of cotton around the base cutting off the blood supply, it is painful, but effective. The freezing method is not painful.

I haven't heard of anything to prevent them so keen to see other answers.

Skin tags are benign skin growths, that some people are more susceptible to than others. There is no way to prevent them from popping up, and once you do get one, the only way to get rid of it, is to have a Doctor or Dermatologist, snip it off, or in some cases burn it off, depending on the location, of the skin tag.
Skin tags are just one of those annoying facts of life, that everyone just has to deal with. They sometimes appear as people get a little older, but not always. There is nothing in the world that can be done to prevent them, so just don't let them bother you. I am sure that know one but you, even knows it's there. If you are really annoyed by them go to a Dermatologist, and tell him you want them removed, it is almost painless, and a very easy, quick procedure.
Good Luck

Skin tags are usually associated with people who are overweight or elderly. You can get rid of them by having them treated by a doctor, or you can tie string around them and after a few days they will fall off.

You can also be born with them - I have heard them referred to as a 'Naephus' in that past as well. I was born with one at the base of my neck, its very small & I've got used to it so I wouldn't have it removed. Personally I would rather look at my skin tag than a round white scar! There is no way to prevent them as far as I know but your doc can treat & remove them if you feel so inclined! Hope this helps!

the only way to get rid of a skin tag is to go to a plastic surgon or dr. if u do it urself u can get melinoma, which is the deadlist kind of skin cancer. same as removing moles. if u end of with this kind of cancer there is no hope for recovering u will die from it.

You have to get them burnt off by the doctor under a local anaesthetic. I got mine done a few years and they haven't come back since. Depending on how big they are, you may have a slight scar. I haven't got any. Good luck with that
