He is hinting that if there is Someone who can give you a better life and love you more than him, he may give you up. This shows that your boyfriend cares a lot for you.

He will let you go if it is beneficial to you. Who will tell what is beneficial to whom? That is a parent telling a child. Does this assume that you need guidance? or security perhaps?

If this is about love then there should be freedom and self-realization and not the mistaken idea of simply fulfilling one's needs.

He's giving himself a way out if and when he wants to end it. It'll make him look noble.
It's NOT a good sign.

What he means is that he can never let you go unless it is for your best. Simply put, if you'd be better without him, that will be the only time he will let you do. :)

means he loves you but if him being w/ you ends up being bad for you in any way, then he'll let you go. b/c it's better than being w/ him. it's kinda a good sign.
