using your own research, evaluate the role of technology in modern life

While many answers were trivial and inconsiderate, one person had some insight. I hope to extrapolate a bit on that. Technology is the cutting edge of discoveries and in days of yore, fire was mystical and awesome and since then we have leaped over mountains in discoveries and inventions. Consider the influenza epidemic that struck Europe in the early part of the 1900s, and today such a profound loss of life could be prevented. Many millions of people died and yet the SARS pandemic was controlled by the application of scientific knowledge or 'technology'. Technology affects us in every sphere of our existence from better bindings on a book to space and health. How many things can we do today that were impossible a decade ago?

A progression of technological advances that can help improve everyday living. It is basically a systematical change of events. Researchers and scientists learn about the use and or new use of an object, mineral, etc.; and new developements then affect uses with other objects already made.
