The thing with the truly gifted players is that they have learnt all the flair tricks by themselves from a very early age. Whether it was Ronaldinho on the beaches of Brazil or Zidane in the concrete jungle of Marseille, they are self taught maestros. You have to obviously have a bit of talent too but players like this and what they can do with a football,no coaching manual in the world can train you.
As for dodgy dealings, there will always be sneaky goings on that the fans either never know about or,in the case of Serie A,find out about when its already hitting the fan. A shame but because of the obscene amounts of cash involved in the game now,not a major surprise.

Fifa has always been corrupt. There will always be underhand deals that fix games and ruin the soprt completely. Look at the World Cup and its history of winners and how they got to the final. There are some reporters who have been completely banned from the World Cup and other football matches because of their research into Fifa and its corrupt deals with football managers and players.

Skills make soccer players superior. Just like US National Captain Claudio Reyna said, "From a yound age American youth are coached too much. Around the world kids are learning their skills on the street on local yard...not on a soccer team." Coaching may really be setting everything a step backward!

It depends what you think of as skill. Is shirt pulling, pretending to have been fouled, and any other devious trick that they think they can get away with, considered skill?
So, for a long time now it hasn't been just about skill, it's also what you can get away with, in between spitting on the pitch and nearly having sex with any player that happens to have scored, having first proffered himself to the crowd for due adulation.
